On Monday, 25th of April, 2022, I went with my supervisor Mahendra Mahey to the Academic Library of Tallinn University to learn more about Krusenstern. I saw the illustrations from the circumnavigation in real life and it was fascinating. I also got to see some older books that weren't about Krusenstern, but still very interesting. When we got there we were greeted by Kaja Tiisel, the Head of Baltica and Old Books Department who very kindly gave us a tour of the Baltic German book collection as well as the original manuscript for the Atlas Krusenstern created for his circumnavigation around the world.

I learnt that Kaja Tiisel based her Master’s Thesis on the Library of Tallinna Toomkool, where Adam Von Krusenstern was a pupil.

Me (Rafael Denev) next to one of the original illustrations from Krusenstern's books.

A book entitled 'Erasmi Schmidii Opus sacrum posthumum' published in Nuremberg, Germany in 1658 on display at the Library.
